30before30: #16 Make Sushi at Home

My friend Linds was over and read the list on my fridge and stated that she wanted to help me get some items on the list done. She had experience making sushi at home and invited me over.

We spent a Sunday morning making sushi and had a leisurely lunch with a beautiful Japanese table setting.

Linds was a great teacher and I can't wait to attempt more sushi on my own!

30 Before 30 ..

Every year since I've been working, we've taken a trip. The duration and destination depend on financial position and time off work. But I absolutely cherish travelling. I spend hours reading books, articles, and narrowing down destinations. Once the destination is chosen, we make the itinerary and research the experiences we want to have. I circle the dates on the calendar at work and glance at it daily, it becomes my motivation when things are stressful. During the trip, I maintain detailed travel journals where I detail our day, insert travel documentation and trip tidbits. Upon our return, I print the photos and insert them in an album with the travel journal. I take select photos and post them at work where I look at them constantly to bring a smile to my face. Then I start researching for the next trip ..

The only part of travelling I detest is travelling. There is so much downtime driving to the airport, waiting for the airplane, waiting in lines for experiences, etc. I always use this time to reflect upon my life and to plan my future.

Our most recent trip was to New York City for New Year's Eve. During the travelling portion, I reflected upon my life these past few years and realize that I had to do something to change it. I couldn't keep stressing myself at work and needed to make time for the experiences that made me happy. I remember when I had attempted a Hula Seventy type X things to do while I am X age found via Kelly Purkey. I found that the list made me want to remember and attempt experiences. The only drawback was to think up so many things, year after year.

Therefore, since the impending 30 is coming quickly, I decide on 30 experiences before I turn 30 on June 16, 2013.
